Blog Add-on

The Contensive Blog add-on creates a blog style article resource on your website. Visitors can comment on articles and comments are moderated by the blog creator. You can have mulitple blogs on the site, and you have the choice to let visitors post comments anonymously.

Adding the Blog Add-on to Your Site

To add the blog to your site, go the the Navigator >> Tools >> Add-on Manager. In the Collection Library Tab, mark the checkbox next to the Blog and Click OK. After installation, you will have an entry to the Blog under Navigator >> Manage Add-ons

Adding a Blog to Your Site

After installing the Blog Add-on, you can create a blog on your site. Create or Edit a page to hold the blog. Put the cursor in the page copy, and click the drop-down for Add-ons in the wysiwyg editor, and click Blog. The Add-on Icon will appear in the copy.

Editing the Blog Options

In Internet Explorer you can double click on the Add-on Icon to set the options. With other browser, you have to save the page and view it on the public site with Advanced Edit turned on. Click on the left-most icon in Add-on Header, called Instance Properties.

There are two options that can be selected. First, type a name for your Blog. The name that comes up automatically is "Default". If you will only have one blog, that is a good name. If you will have multiple blogs, you can create a name here.

Next, decide if you want to allow anonymous visitors to comment on your posts. Select yes, and anyone can comment. You will still have to approved the comments before they appear. Select no, and only those who are authenticated can comment.

Allowing the Public to Register on your site

If you want to allow the public to comment on your posts, but would prefer they register on your site, you can select this on your site's preferences page. Go to Navigator >> Settings >> Preferences and click on the security tab. Check the chechbox "Allow Public Registrations. When anonymous visitors try to comment on your posts, they will be prompted to either loging, or register.

Moderating Comments on Your Blog

When visitors add comments to your blog, an email will be sent to the address of the user who created the blog. To approved the comments, go to the comments page for the post and check either Approve or Delete.
